Sanctuary for all Birds

For decades, we've offered no-kill shelter to all birds, indigenous or non-indigenous. Some birds become permanent residents for various reasons. Some are surrenders, some are victims of inexperienced falconers, some are confiscated by law enforcement, owners passing without a will for the animals, or are pet trade disasters. Once the new owners to discover how dangerous birds of prey (and some "domesticated" birds such as parrots and macaws) can be they're quickly surrendered. Usually after an unfortunate incident. These poor souls land in a veritable no-man's land where they will be euthanised/euthanased in the absence of willing, knowledgeable rehabbers. Whilst resources are limited, we try to take those we can or place them in competent colleagues' hands. Again... the pet trade has created another disaster for so many birds. Ask the poor parrots and macaws how they have been exploited and troubled, many rehomed some 12 times in their lifetimes. Fortunately, psittacines are a particular strong suit in our organisation. A few dozen lucky ones have made it to us, but that is a drop in the bucket compared to the suffering tens of thousands worldwide.
